Program for Students with Disabilities

Status: Ongoing (Oct 2004 - Dec 2012)

Since October 2004, Assessments Australia has been on contract to DEECD to manage and evaluate applications from schools for students with disabilities who apply for funding under the Department’s Program for Students with Disabilities (PSD).

The primary objective of the DEECD contract is the critical evaluation of student applications containing medical and allied health specialist reports to determine if eligibility criteria have been met and to establish the student’s level of need. Reports are received from Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, Audiologists, Physiotherapists, Speech Pathologists, Ophthalmologists, Paediatricians and other medical personnel. When evaluating these reports, attention is paid to ensure that the evidence provided meets the specific eligibility criteria within the given framework. This requires a thorough understanding of the framework, the clinical information presented and an ability to relate the report’s content to an educational context.

Original Contract Oct 2004 – Jan 2008, the current contract has now been extended to December 2012
