Department of Communities: Disability Services Queensland
Assessment and Prioritisation Methodologies for the Disability Sector
Status: Completed (October 2008 - November 2009)
Assessments Australia was engaged by the Queensland Government to develop needs assessment and prioritisation methodologies for the disability sector. Assessments Australia formed a consortium with RMIT University to conduct the project across the entire sector and worked closely with stakeholders from both within the government and the NGO sector.
A new needs assessment and prioritisation system was developed to ensure that the allocation of state funding is fair and reaching those in greatest need. The new system, which is currently being rolled out across Queensland will deliver a fairer and more transparent approach and promote equity in access to services. Under the new system, an assessment will be required for all services provided or funded by Disability Services Queensland.
