Ian graduated from Monash University with a Bachelor of Economics and Politics degree and a Diploma of Education.

He started his secondary school teaching career in 1975, teaching commerce and computing at senior levels.

In 1986, Ian joined an IT based organisation and within 12 months became their Victorian Sales and Marketing Manager. He successfully led a team of 40 sales and support staff in multiple locations and significantly grew the company.

In 1989, Ian started his own IT business. In 10 years as Managing Director, he expanded the organisation into a national company employing more than 250 staff in 13 locations in five states. In the process Ian won a series of awards, including the BRW fastest growing IT company in Australia, and The Age/Dun and Bradstreet Business Award.  Ian’s company was also featured with a chapter in the book “Computer Excellence”, profiling several leading Australian IT organizations.

He advised teams in marketing, sales management, professional services, software development, administration and finance. His regular contact with senior staff in State and Federal Government and in business was instrumental in the company’s growth.

Ian also co-founded a Brisbane-based multimedia company, which developed interactive products in nuclear medicine, oral health and education, among others, for government and business in the 1990s. These state-of-the-art projects were valued at between $200,000 and $600,000.

As a director of Assessments Australia, Ian’s role is business development and project management. Ian works with clients to build information solutions for internal management systems. His understanding of finance and business operations brings significant benefits to the process.
